matchahand — tea amongst art & retail
Situated amongst our gallery + retail space, guided matcha tasting hosted at CURRENCY STUDIO in Baltimore.
This private experience introduces select single cultivars cultivated in Uji, Kyoto, with a focus on the distinctive characteristics of each tea.
Each matcha is prepared in a traditional style: whisked with water in a tea bowl using a bamboo chasen, and served without milk or sweeteners. The focus is on its natural flavor, aroma, texture, and finish.
Through a side-by-side exploration of single cultivar teas, guests are invited to discover the differences between cultivars, learn about their cultivation, and develop a deeper appreciation for the tea itself.
This is not a formal Japanese tea ceremony. The emphasis is on the tea, its preparation, and the conversation surrounding it, rather than ceremonial procedures or etiquette.
